The Menomonee Falls law firm of McLario, Helm & Bertling has grown dramatically since John McLario founded our practice in 1953. We now have seven full-time lawyers. Two more attorneys are Of Counsel to the firm, and the firm continues to benefit from John McLario's experience and advice even after his retirement from full practice. From the earliest days of our firm, we have concentrated on personal injury litigation for persons hurt in motor vehicle accidents, estate planning and probate administration, and advice for new and established businesses. In recent decades, we have also added divorce and family law to our firm's client service, as well as increasingly sophisticated approaches to estate planning problems to meet rapidly changing family asset preservation needs.

Prior to his retirement, John McLario wrote and lectured frequently on legal and professional matters. He also won the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service in a B-29 crew during World War II. As early as 1960, he was listed in Who's Who in Wisconsin, and he was later listed in the first edition of Who's Who in American Law.

Our current managing partners are Joseph Helm and Michael Bertling.
Joseph Helm has won many honors and awards for his outstanding academic career at Valparaiso University School of Law, where served as an associate editor of the law review. Like many other McLario, Helm & Bertling attorneys, he has been active in professional and community affairs over his entire career, including six years of service as a Village Trustee in Menomonee Falls.

Michael Bertling is a graduate of Marquette University Law School. He graduated with honors and placed second at a national moot court competition. He was a published member of the Marquette Law Review. He is active both in his community and church.
